Krystal Ka'ai '10
Krystal Ka'ai '10 leads both the White House Initiative and the President's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders. Graduating from Lehigh with a major in political science and a minor in business, Ka'ai wants to make sure her community has a voice at the national level. The initiative she leads coordinates a comprehensive federal response to advancing equity, justice, and opportunity for Asian populations, including efforts to address anti-Asian violence.
Developing Next-Gen Underwater Vehicles
Keith Moored (professor of mechanical engineering and mechanics)
Keith Moored, associate professor of mechanical engineering and mechanics, is leading an interdisciplinary team of researchers from the University of Virginia and Harvard and Princeton universities to help develop fast and efficient schools of bio-inspired underwater vehicles. As part of the prestigious $7.5 million Multidisciplinary University Research Initiatives (MURI) award, the team aims to discover and demonstrate the hydrodynamic principles behind high-speed, high-efficiency fish and bio-robotic schooling to build next-gen underwater vehicles.

Amber Bierly '25
Starting her Lehigh experience in the American West as part of Lehigh Launch, Amber Bierly '25 backpacked through Wyoming's Wind River Range to hone skills in leadership, teamwork and social responsibility, and studied abroad with Lehigh in Paris in summer 2022. A first-generation student, she is a part of F1RST, a student group that seeks to promote an inclusive community for first-gen and working-class students at Lehigh. She also has been accepted into Lehigh's Eckardt Scholars honors program.
