There are many reasons for negative feedback and I will try to answer few of them. I have landed in Canada as a PR and trying to write based on my experience.

  1. People in other countries (mainly in developing countries) think that life in Canada is very good (and it is). They think that once they land in Canada, all their problems will be sorted out as they will earn in CAD and try to multiply with some multiplication factor to calculate the amount in their local currency. Canada is an expensive country to live in where all the services have quality and they came with a much higher price tag.
  2. People think that since they were having good job back home, they will not find any difficulty getting a job in Canada. Believe me, even Canadians have hard time finding jobs in their field (although they may get a job easier than an immigrant). The job market is pretty tight and many employers try to hire people with Canadian experience/ qualification. For example, I heard from one of my friend that his/ her past company used to get many resumes from people who had experience in Middle-East or other parts of the world, but found their experience as irrelevant (Shocking). I believe Canadian market will take some time (~20–30 years) before it truly opens to immigrants/ talent like US.
  3. Your past experience is not considered much and you have to start almost like a fresher and it will take some time before you reach to the actual level. This is kind of disappointment/ frustration for anyone.

Despite all of these facts, how many people who have immigrated to Canada will go back?? - Not even 10%.

The reason is that we want to get every other country's positive points in a country in Canada. We want salary like Middle East/ US, food like our native country, free health-care like Canada (but fast like India/ US), social insurance, free and quality education like Canada, weather like any other country - the blend of everything in Canada (where we are living now). No nation is a perfect nation and every country have so many plus and minus points. The reason we came to Canada is that we weighed positive points more than the negative points.

Since you are already here, here is my advice. Please please please, get some Canadian credentials/ education. Government support you in your study and living expenses. Study for a year or two years. You can look for a job during studies as well. If you get job while studying, convert your study to a full-time. If you do not get job while studying, you will get lot of interview calls after completing your studies.

So, if you are here, there are at least 90% chances that you will not go back. So study here, get job and start contributing towards success of this great country who have embraced us and our family like their own family.
